About The Position

The English/Humanities Teacher at Palmetto Goodwill is responsible for instructing and facilitating Reading and English Language Arts (ELA) classes, focusing on remediating skills necessary for students to access the core curriculum. The role emphasizes a student-centered approach, tailoring instructional strategies to meet individual needs and employing high-impact practices to support student success in alignment with South Carolina academic standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in the subject specialty is required.
• At least two years of teaching experience post-licensing is preferred.
• Current South Carolina Teaching Certification in the subject specialty.
• Working knowledge of computer programs such as Office 366, Excel, Word, and the Internet.
• Ability to pass a background check successfully.

Nice To Haves

• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Experience working with high school-age students in urban areas, non-traditional education settings, and/or adult education settings is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and facilitate Reading or ELA instruction, focusing on remediating reading and writing skills.
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards and build lessons around student needs.
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward South Carolina academic standards.
• Track and analyze classroom data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development and school-wide functions to improve student retention and productivity.
• Communicate student progress effectively with students and colleagues.
• Collaborate with Academic Success Coaches and Leadership Team to support students' progress toward graduation.
• Attend all team and professional development meetings.
• Assist with new student orientation.
