This technical role assists engineers in the planning, testing, and the maintenance of mechanical equipment by gathering data, testing new parts or prototypes for machinery or new products. Conducts research tasks, summarizes findings, and reports findings to support actions to repair and or improve effectively, failures in machines and processes. Designs, fabricates, installs and repairs mechanical components and engineering solutions. Designs, fabricates, modifies, and assembles new or existing mechanical components. Conveys to an engineer/supervisor to bring solutions to systemic issues that are related to machine/process design.

  • Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing facility in tooling and fixture repair.
  • Root cause analysis of systematic tooling and fixture issues and implementation of solutions.
  • Lead portions of tooling and fixture repairs and or improvements, including vendor selection and development.
  • Manage projects in a manner to assure product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with and provide technical assistance to new product development engineers for a maintenance-based perspective.
  • Utilize engineering software (CAD, 3D CAD, Mastercam) to design new or modify existing fixtures and tooling.
  • Utilize Toolroom equipment and 3D printing to manufacture parts for repairs and improvements.
  • Execute and oversee changes and or improvements to tooling and machine fixtures.
  • Support manufacturing management in lean/continuous improvement planning and activities.
  • Evaluate issues in the production environment, work with process, maintenance and quality teams to implement short-term solutions as well as develop, plan and implement long-term solutions to issues.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Assist maintenance in analyzing and evaluating machine health by gathering data through testing and also using CMMS data.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Journeyman Toolmaker desired.
  • Experience in using engineering software (CAD, 3D CAD, Mastercam).
  • Familiarity with data collection and working within maintenance CMM systems.
  • Knowledge of research and testing methods.
  • Understanding of engineering concepts - Reverse Engineering.
  • Physical strength and abilities to perform well in the field if necessary.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and time management.
  • Ability to collaborate and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb writing and presentation skills.
  • A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
  • Key role in line/machine installation, initial run in and debugging.
  • Provide technical support to engineers during the design of manufacturing processes for a production facility.
  • Assists in the development of layouts or floor plans, conducts tests and troubleshoots equipment.
  • Document test procedures and results.
  • Ability to devote at least 40% of workday providing production support.
