About The Position

The Engineering Test Support II role involves supporting developmental tests within a manufacturing line or laboratory setting. This position requires operating and executing process steps using a variety of processing equipment, manual methods, test equipment, and metrology tools. The incumbent will follow detailed work instructions and task documents, performing basic analytics to ensure proper tool operation and test execution. Key responsibilities include ensuring all development tests are completed according to schedule, which encompasses sample acquisition, testing, and accurate data entry. The role also demands immediate communication of any abnormal findings related to products or testing equipment. The individual will execute assigned tasks, assist supervisors with other duties, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for enhanced productivity, safety, or performance. This position operates under daily supervision, adhering to standard procedures, written instructions, safety protocols, and good housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant technical experience in manufacturing or lab environment or 1 Year as an Engineering Test Support I at First Solar.
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions/test plans.
  • Average ability to use tools and operating equipment is required (micrometers, multimeters, power supplies and data logger, and other process and test equipment).
  • Ability to repetitively handle glass coupons, plates, and finished modules.
  • Proven communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
  • Able to run JMP scripts and analyze simple datasets using JMP and SQL application upon training.
  • Possess the ability to learn to use JMP and SQL applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support developmental tests in the manufacturing line or perform testing in laboratory environment.
  • Operate and/or execute process steps using a mix of processing equipment, manual processing, test equipment and metrology tools.
  • Follow work instructions and interpret task documents.
  • Perform basic analytics to ensure proper operation of tools and execution of tests.
  • Ensure that all the tests are complete as per the schedule including sample acquiring, testing and data entry for all development tests.
  • Communicate immediately any abnormal findings on the product or testing equipment.
  • Execute assigned tasks.
  • Assist in any other task or job assigned by supervisor.
  • Analyze work environment and make suggestions for continuous improvement for enhanced productivity, safety, or performance.
  • Work under daily supervision.
  • Follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish routine tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
