About The Position

This position will be supporting Indiana North highway relocation projects The Engineering Technologist III position is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. An Engineering Technologist III provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist III position are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence. The Senior Engineering Technologist is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. The Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.

Requirements

  • Engineering Technologist III Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology AND 2 years relevant industry experience or Associates degree in Engineering Technology and 4 years of relevant industry experience In lieu of Associates degree AND 4 years of relevant industry experience or Bachelors degree and 2 years of relevant industry experience listed above, High School/GED AND 6 years relevant industry experience
  • Sr Engineering Technologist Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology AND 4 years relevant industry experience or Associates degree in Engineering Technology and 6 years of relevant industry experience In lieu of Associates degree AND 6 years relevant industry experience or Bachelors degree and 4 years relevant industry experience listed above, High School/GED AND 8 years relevant industry experience
  • Valid driver's license

  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience in Electric Distribution Utility Design
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
  • Independently reviews and prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies.
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.
