About The Position

The Engineering Technician position at Akima Systems Engineering involves managing systems for the US Coast Guard's C5I Service Center. The role focuses on the engineering, design, maintenance, and installation of telecommunications and electronic systems, contributing to critical federal projects while supporting the Iñupiat shareholder communities in Alaska.

Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering technology or completion of USCG or DOD technically 'A' School is required.
• Minimum six (6) years of experience in maintenance and installation of DOD or USCG Command, Control, and Communication Systems is required.
• A Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering, design, maintenance, and installation of telecommunications systems and electronic systems.
• Experience performing repair, maintenance, or installation of at least four different electronic equipment and systems including MF, HF, VHF, UHF and SATCOM Communication Systems.
• Develops or reviews designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data.
• Develops or reviews engineering drawings to provide red-line corrections for 'as built' configurations.
• Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures.
• Assists engineers with designs, tests, and machinery, products, and other equipment.
• Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions.
• Assists in the analysis of test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.
• Performs work under general supervision and handles complex issues and problems.
