About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Technician to join the Data Center & Power Control Team in Independence, OH. The Engineering Technician supports our switch compatibility and transceiver coding programs by testing, configuring, and validating transceivers, network switches, and related components. The role contributes to safe, high‑quality product performance by ensuring interoperability, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting internal teams and customers during deployment and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Domestic travel up to 20% per year, sometimes on short notice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience supporting customers in lab or field environments.

Nice To Haves

  • ASEE or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience with optical networking equipment and transceivers.
  • Proficiency in computer operations and basic network configurations.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Telco, CATV, or related networking fields.
  • Working knowledge of EEPROM programming and switch operations.
  • CCNA, CONA, or equivalent networking certification.
  • Experience with purchase orders, sales orders, RMAs, or related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lab tests of transceivers, switches, and optical networking equipment to validate performance and interoperability.
  • Configure and deploy network devices following established procedures to support customer needs and internal development.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, firmware, and EEPROM‑related issues to maintain system reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, upgrades, and test outcomes to support quality and traceability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Operations teams to support deployments and customer inquiries.
  • Provide technical guidance to customer technicians during testing, turn‑up, and issue resolution.
  • Support documentation updates and maintain organized lab environments aligned with safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in on‑site or remote customer support activities, including troubleshooting and configuration reviews.
