Our Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for an Engineering Technician to support the Engineering Lab by performing hands-on testing, assembling test setups, collecting data, and assisting engineers with product development activities. You’ll contribute to testing related to aerospace and avionics requirements such as DO-160 and DO-178, with the understanding that these standards will be learned on the job. This role may also support installation or integration activities on aircraft and has an onsite work schedule at our business unit, Moog Avionics, located in Mineral Wells, TX. Moog Avionics delivers customer-focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or avionics principles.
  • Ability to use hand tools, measurement devices, and basic test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn complex aerospace test standards.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. and perform hands on tasks involving tools, equipment, and mechanical setups.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective communicator with proven ability to work seamlessly with engineering and technical teams.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to grow into more advanced test and certification responsibilities over time.
  • Must be a U.S citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an engineering or product testing environment.
  • Exposure to any aerospace testing or documentation processes (DO-160, DO-178, MIL0STD).
  • Familiarity with aircraft systems or previous work on aircraft installations.
  • Experience with data acquisition equipment, wiring, or basic electronics assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Lab Support Perform routine engineering tests, measurements, and evaluations under the direction of engineering staff.
  • Assist in building test setups, wiring harnesses, mechanical fixtures, and prototype assemblies.
  • Support environmental and functional testing aligned with aerospace development efforts (e.g., temperature, vibration, EMI), with training provided for DO‑160‑style testing.
  • Help execute basic software loading, configuration, or operational checks as part of systems testing (relevant to DO‑178 workflows).
  • Aircraft Installation Support (as needed) Assist engineers and technicians with installing equipment, sensors, wiring, or test articles on aircraft.
  • Follow established aircraft safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Support test flights or ground tests by preparing equipment, monitoring setups, and recording data.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to installation activities.
  • Data Collection & Documentation Record test results with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain logs, checklists, and configuration records used in engineering development.
  • Prepare clear summaries or simple reports for engineers reviewing test outcomes.
  • Update documentation and test artifacts in accordance with engineering or quality processes.
  • Equipment & Lab Maintenance Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on lab equipment such as environmental chambers, meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data loggers (training provided).
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the engineering lab.
  • Help track equipment calibration and identify equipment needing repair or replacement.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with engineers, technicians, and project teams to support development testing, prototype builds, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide feedback on test setups, procedures, or fixture improvements.
  • Participate in workflow improvements to increase lab efficiency and reliability.
