Maldonado-Burkett is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our Dallas office, which is located in the Watters Creek area of Allen at Bethany Drive and US Highway 75. We are seeking an individual with 1-4+ years of experience to help deliver traffic engineering projects across the state of Texas and beyond. The candidate will perform engineering work in the field of transportation engineering. The work performed may include (but not be limited to) the following:

Requirements

  • Technical Proficiency: Professional competency with Bentley Microstation CAD software and required experience with standard computer software, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. College coursework in Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) is preferred.
  • Professional Attributes: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in groups, demonstrate flexibility with workload, and effectively multi-task to meet project delivery schedules. Must be detail-oriented and willing to learn new skills.
  • Proactivity and Growth: Ability to work with multiple project managers, be self-motivated to identify and execute business process improvements, and possess a drive to grow as a professional.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May require activities such as repetitive motion (typing/data entry), bending, reaching, standing, and lifting (e.g., during on-site inspections).
  • Working Conditions: Requires flexibility for extended hours/shifts. May be subject to exposure to moving traffic, exhaust, and extreme weather conditions during on-site activities.
  • Must be eligible for coverage under the company’s commercial auto insurance policy, which requires drivers to be 23 years or older and carry a valid TX driver’s license.
  • Applicant will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record Check. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving company or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct company business.
  • Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Safety impact employees will be subject to additional drug and alcohol testing throughout his/her employment.
  • As part of its employment process, M-B may procure or have prepared a criminal background check. An applicant with an unsatisfactory criminal background check report is ineligible to be hired for the position for which the report is initiated.
  • If hired, applicant must provide document(s) within three (3) days of hire date that establish identity and employment eligibility. A complete list of acceptable documents is on file with the local Texas Workforce Commission office or http://www.twc.state.tx.us/.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bentley Open Roads Design is a plus.
  • College coursework in Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • CAD Design and Documentation: Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) using Microstation CAD software, including creating new CAD standard drawings and performing CAD drafting. Experience with Bentley Open Roads Design is a plus.
  • Specialized Engineering Plans: Produce a variety of specialized plans including Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), communication networks, roadway lighting, and comprehensive traffic planning (signals, timing, impact analyses, management, signing, and pavement marking).
  • Data Analysis and Software Utilization: Conduct data collection and analysis, calculating quantities and presenting data using Excel and mapping with ARCGIS. Utilize specialized software such as AGi32 (photometric) and SignCAD (traffic sign design).
  • Coordination and Compliance: Review all drawings for compliance with company CAD policies and coordinate with engineers and technical staff to ensure timely project needs are met, using standard office tools like Microsoft Office.
