About The Position

SRC, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to support our U.S Government Customer at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) on Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH. In this role the individual will assist the team of Government and contractor personnel in general laboratory support. They will also coordinate with program management on specific ways to modernize and innovate the existing laboratory environment. The Ideal candidate will be a self-starter and able to work with very little oversite or direction while professionally supporting the government customer.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • An active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
  • RF Expertise: Strong understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) theory, signal propagation, radar, and/or electronic warfare.
  • Test Equipment Mastery: Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from: Vector Network Analyzers (VNA) Spectrum Analyzers Signal Generators Oscilloscopes Power Meters
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to read electrical schematics and block diagrams to isolate faults in complex RF systems.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage timelines for repair cycles and upgrade projects independent of direct supervision.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical failures to engineers and explain capability limitations to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Demo Execution: Support Lead Engineers to configure and execute complex hardware demonstrations for internal and external customers. Ensure high availability of systems prior to scheduled demos
  • HWIL Management: Manage the daily configuration of Hardware-in-the-Loop environments, ensuring proper interfacing between the System Under Test and simulation equipment
  • Sustainment: Perform routine preventive maintenance on EW simulators and signal generation equipment to prevent downtime
  • Component Repair: Troubleshoot down to the component level. Repair and replace faulty subsystems, cables, and circuit cards
  • Calibration: Execute scheduled calibration and verification of system components and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters)
  • QA/QC: Develop, document, and strictly enforce Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checklists for lab equipment handling, test setups, system verification, routine inspections. Maintain logs of equipment failures for trend analysis and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
  • Sustainment Planning: Create detailed project plans for long-term sustainment activities, including resource forecasting, downtime scheduling, and inventory management. Recommend consolidation plans for non-repairable/obsolete equipment
  • Upgrade Strategy: Evaluate aging equipment and provide technical guidance/roadmaps for hardware and software upgrades to maintain state-of-the-art capabilities
