About The Position

Astrodyne TDI is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician who is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic engineering environment. The Engineering Technician will support the design, development, testing, and validation of transformers, inductors, and power solutions for the Powertronix Business Unit’s portfolio of products. This role is responsible for assembling prototypes, performing inspections and electrical tests, maintaining engineering labs, and supporting engineers in documentation and product development activities. The Engineering Technician works closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Customer Service teams to ensure smooth execution of engineering and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree, Technical Diploma, Certificate in Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience (4+ years).
  • Strong background and experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical or electronic systems.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment, diagnostic tools, and mechanical measuring devices.
  • Must be fluent in writing, speaking, and understanding English.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in computer operations, including MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic engineering software; CAD literacy is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other functional teams.
  • Must be proactive, enthusiastic, self-driven, and able to work with dynamic team.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to travel domestically as required (<5%).

Responsibilities

  • Assembles electrical and electronic systems, components, and engineering prototypes.
  • Organizes, maintains, and oversees the engineering test and assembly laboratory.
  • Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate the performance of parts, assemblies, or complete systems.
  • Calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical instruments and test equipment.
  • Performs inspection of products and components for quality control and releases them for next operations.
  • Supports engineers in developing 2D and 3D drawings, wiring diagrams, test instructions, and specifications.
  • Analyzes nonconforming materials and products; prepares reports and communicates findings to appropriate parties.
  • Participates in knowledge transfer activities, including visits to manufacturing sites to observe, inspect, and test product builds.
  • Sources materials for R&D projects and prototype development.
  • Works closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing teams in performing their duties.
  • Assists in maintaining ISO documentation, test records, and lab equipment logs in accordance with internal processes.
  • Supports continuous improvement activities.
