Under general supervision, the Engineering Technician provides administrative and technical support duties as it relates to the various service areas of the assigned department. Some duties may include right-of-way (ROW) permitting, construction inspections for ROW permits, coordination of water and wastewater utility evaluation applications, impact fee assessment and collection, completing field investigations for residents and other complaints, using GIS system software, information gathering and research, preparing backup material for various presentations, and other duties as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Applies specialized engineering methods and tools to independently perform a variety of technical field and office assignments. Performs impact fee assessment and collection for new developments and coordinates utility evaluations for water and wastewater service. Prepares a variety of illustrations, graphics and visual aids for various meetings and presentations using a variety of specialized software. Prepares project status updates for permitting. Provides assistance with the administration of the assigned program or project. Performs field inspections for ROW Permits and Stormwater regulations compliance. Usage of GIS software and other software programs for GIS/engineering technical work. Assists in the development and maintenance of the record-keeping and filing systems. Schedules and attends pre-construction meetings, walkthroughs, or other applicable meetings. Conducts safety inspections of vehicles and equipment and wears protective and safety gear as indicated for the work assignment. Responds to requests and inquiries from the general public and other City Departments.
