About The Position

Engineering Technician (F3005 2026-24428): Bowhead seeks Engineering Technician to support its customer in Crane, IN. The Engineering Technician will perform complex and unique engineering support assignments.This position requires the candidate to be responsible for performing activities involving the assembling and integration of military and commercial systems including modification of military platforms. The Engineering Technician performs undersea sensor task assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required at a minimum in addition to at least five (5+) years of experience
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level however candidates with an Active Secret clearance are preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

  • Previous experience supporting NSWC Crane is preferred
  • candidates with an Active Secret clearance are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Following specific layouts, procedures, drawings, or scientific diagrams to assist in updating technical manuals and engineering change proposals (ECPs)
  • Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of undersea sensor equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

  • Documentation of system analysis, prototyping, system design, preproduction and fabrication
