We are seeking an experienced Engineering / Automation Technician to assemble, debug, commission, and service advanced automated equipment. This hands-on role works closely with engineering and project teams to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, support PLCs, robotics, and vision systems, and improve machine design and performance. Responsibilities include equipment installation at customer sites, service and maintenance support, documentation, and mentoring junior technicians. How You Will Make a Difference: Manage and lead the assembly, debug, and commissioning of automated equipment and sub-systems. Troubleshoot and debug mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; adjusting when needed. Recommend design changes to facilitate ease of assembly, manufacturing, and improve functionality. Assist with debugging PLCs, robots, vision, and other equipment peripherals. Coordinate with engineers to develop, commission, and test solutions. Provide feedback to engineering and document ECRs. Contribute to system level architecture/design of complex automation solutions comprised of multiple subsystems. Coordinate with project leads or project managers on schedule, budget, and scope. Responsible for light fabrication of custom mechanical components. Responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment and tooling. Install and commission equipment at customer sites. Complete service calls for repairs, maintenance, upgrades, etc. at customer sites. Deliver documentation for operation and maintenance of equipment and tooling. Assist with training and mentoring of other Automation Technicians. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Lift and move objects weighing: Up to 50 lbs occasionally. Up to 25 lbs frequently. Up to 10 lbs constantly. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel materials and tools. Ability to bend, push, pull, and reach overhead. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years commissioning and troubleshooting automated equipment. 5+ years machine building experience. Experience with manufacturing (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.). Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Must have an excellent mechanical intuition and proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues. Ability to use traditional inspection tools for the inspection of parts and assemblies. Additional Skills Experience building or troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems. Ability to read and understand PLC, Robot, and similar software programming. Experience in troubleshooting and refining machine vision, robotics, machine safety, sensors, and measurement devices. Experience with machine safety and OSHA. Experience developing processes, procedures, manuals, and training documentation.
