About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support the operation and scale-up of our isotope separation systems in both lab and pilot production environments. This role is critical to maintaining system uptime, enabling experimental campaigns, and advancing our production capabilities. You will work closely with engineers and scientists to troubleshoot complex hardware systems, build new equipment, and keep our lab running at a high level of execution.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience operating in a laboratory or research setting
  • Experience with electrical diagnostic tools such as Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Clamp Meters, etc.
  • Experience with low-voltage signal wiring, soldering, or field wiring
  • Experience interpreting assembly drawings and circuit diagrams
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX
  • This role will be exposed to export-controlled information and requires compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations

Nice To Haves

  • AS or BS in a technical field
  • Experience in a highly technical industry such as aerospace, nuclear, semiconductor, or national laboratories
  • Experience working with lasers and the specific safety/alignment protocols involved
  • Experience handling and transporting compressed gas cylinders and lab gases, including securing, moving, and storing them in accordance with safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system start-up, shut-down, or operational procedures
  • Perform daily experimental setup and lab preparation for ongoing or upcoming activities
  • Troubleshoot system failures related to vacuum pumps, power supplies, heaters, instruments, and/or process issues
  • Troubleshoot supporting equipment failures such as chillers, gas sources, fans, cables, etc.
  • Build, assemble, and integrate new equipment (e.g., vacuum chambers, instruments, control panels)
  • Log process issues, anomalies, run reports, etc.
  • Identify critical spare parts and implement organized inventory and storage systems
  • Organize lab areas and develop maintenance and upkeep schedules
  • Participate in design reviews and development of novel hardware
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists on potential hardware improvements and solutions
  • Maintain optical table components and adjust or repair components as needed
  • Follow, improve, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and consistent system operation
