Engineering Technician Position: As an engineering technician at Horizon Surgical Systems, your work will contribute to the automation of ophthalmological surgical procedures with a robotic platform. In this role, you will assemble and provide maintenance for hardware components and robotic systems.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent
Excellent hands-on skills and experience
Extensive experience performing electrical and mechanical benchtop work
Good communication skills (verbal, written, and visual)
Good organization skills

Nice To Haves

Some college, an Associate’s degree, a technical/trade school certificate/diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree
Ability to design mechanical parts using CAD
Understanding of common manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, etc.
Understanding of basic circuit components and electrical laws
Ability to design basic electrical circuits.
Previous experience with robotic assembly is a bonus
Previous experience in a medical or healthcare-related field is a bonus

Responsibilities

Mechanical benchtop work including, but not limited to, sawing/cutting, sanding, drilling, 3D printing, and using power tools
Electrical benchtop work including, but not limited to, soldering, crimping, electrical harness assembly, wire routing, and cable management.
General assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic and computing equipment
Mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic inspection of prototypes with callipers, digital multimeters, oscilloscope, pin gauges, and various other mechanical and electrical measurement tools.
Maintaining clear communication with the engineering team and management
Creating, updating, maintaining, and providing feedback on electronic log books, assembly instructions, inventory logs, travelers, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, status reports, and other documentation.
Maintaining an organized and presentable work area
Working collaboratively with the development team
