About The Position

The Engineering Technician position at Glacier National Park involves assisting the Project Team Leader with architecture and engineering-related projects. The role includes data collection, historic research, and site assessments, with a focus on supporting the preservation and management of park facilities. This is a temporary, full-time position expected to last for a six-month seasonal period, with an anticipated start date between March and July 2025.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with specific educational qualifications.
• One year of specialized experience in drafting, surveying, physical science, mathematics, architecture, or related fields, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous physical activities.

Nice To Haves

• Certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies is preferred.
• Experience in trade or craft related to engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Team Leader for architecture and engineering-related projects.
• Collect data and conduct historic research from files and technical reports.
• Prepare graphs, charts, text, or tables for project use.
• Travel to various sites within Glacier National Park to collect data, including measurements and photographs.
• Conduct surveys and assess buildings and monitor facility and construction activities.
• Utilize Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to present collected data.
• Provide technical information about historic architecture and conduct presentations.
