The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. The selected candidate will perform the day to day operations of the Ground Support Technical Operations (GSTO) group supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Artemis program. The candidate will support Launch Vehicle Processing primarily serving within the leadership position as GSTO Lead Technician. The candidate is required to have directly related experience and working knowledge of the following: Testing and Validation of ground support systems primarily on the Mobile Launcher. A mechanical and/ or electrical background in the ground support equipment (GSE) field is highly desirable. Must be able to follow work instructions, interpret engineer drawings and follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols. Excellent communication skills are required. Experience in Microsoft Office Products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc.) is required with working knowledge of production software Solumina and MAXIMO. Must be able to pass a SCAPE Physical and maintain a security clearance. Must be able to support shift work, weekends and overtime when required. Must be able to support overtime requested even if requested on short notice. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise, and required certifications and 20 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment. Lead responsibilities include attending the daily shift tag-up meetings and obtain the work scheduled for GSTO. Conduct/attend crew assignment meetings and assign technicians to scheduled task based on the certifications and experience required. Collect work status throughout the shift and report the status to the Area Integrators, COMET Department Manager and Flow Management. Serve as TTL for tasks as needed and mentor technicians to create a safe, well balanced and experienced team. The candidate is required to have served within this position as shop point of contact (POC) and has shown a high level of job efficiency, leadership and reliability as observed by shop management.
