About The Position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • At least 4 years of experience.
  • Must be able to support all shifts, weekends, and overtime.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver's license.
  • Must pass a federal background investigation.
  • Must comply with all 'drug free workplace' requirements.

  • Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs non-routine and complex inspection assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.
  • Inspects major units, devices, or equipment.
  • Conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
  • Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates extensive proficiency within expertise and ability to train less experienced inspectors.
  • Under direction of the engineering staff, applies engineering principles and theories in inspecting, testing, and modifying equipment such as machinery.
  • Assists with the production of prototypes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
