Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology or related field (or equivalent related training/certification if applicable) and 8+ years of related experience.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Expertise in advanced engineering methods and testing techniques related to complex operational processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, visualize three-dimensional shapes from two-dimensional views, and understand standard engineering symbology and flag notes.
  • Skilled in using a variety of floor machinery (manual mill, lathe, drill press), hand tools (drills, grinders), and precision measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, multimeters).

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of mechanical and electrical assembly, from component fabrication to subassembly and final integration, based on precise engineering drawings.
  • Conduct functional checkouts and system testing of electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies, with the ability to troubleshoot and isolate faults to component levels with minimal supervision.
  • Document non-conformances, perform rework or modifications per technical guidance, and ensure all changes are integrated into system documentation.
  • Make recommendations for refining equipment and integration processes, using studies and evaluations to enhance product and process outcomes.
  • Conduct complex tests and experiments, analyze results, and make equipment modifications to improve overall performance.
  • Compile and analyze data on designs, specifications, and materials, and recommend design improvements based on findings.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and coordinate their work activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Recommends design modifications by compiling data related to designs, specifications, and materials.
  • Performs approved rework, modification, repairs and incorporation of changes per technical documentation and formal direction to electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Designs, develops and constructs highly complex equipment or parts, constructs, services or repairs instruments or equipment.
  • Performs functional checkouts and system testing of electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conducts complex tests and experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance.
  • Prepares and overseas the preparation of documentation and reports.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians and coordinates their work activities.
  • Troubleshoots, fault isolation and documents non-conformances to correct malfunctions, to component level, with minimal technical support.
  • Performs all elements of mechanical assembly, integration and test from detail fabrication, buildup of assemblies & subassemblies, through final integration.
  • Constructs highly complex mechanical, and/or electrical assemblies per approved engineering drawings.
