Engineering Technician - Mechatronics

About The Position

As a Technician on the Mechatronics team at Mercury Marine, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting and collecting data to support the development of actuator solutions for marine drive applications ranging from basic hydraulic to full electromechanical components. In this role you will bridge the gap between Electrical and Mechanical core competencies. Working in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary design and lab environment, you will help maintain our current actuator portfolio while incorporating emerging technology into new designs. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in a lab environment in a fast-paced product development organization.
  • Experience with Hydraulic, Electrohydraulic or Electromechanical actuators
  • Basic working knowledge of hydraulics, control systems, sensors, power electronics, brushed and brushless motors
  • Ability to fabricate or machine components
  • Ability to set up data acquisition Equipment such as E-daq, Dewesoft, HMG 4000 or similar
  • Ability to set up and utilize a multi-function oscilloscope and multi meter

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in an engineering or technical field
  • Experience in the Marine industry ideally in a test or development role
  • Experience taking components all the way from concept to production while supporting DVP execution
  • Experience balancing multiple projects while maintaining integrity of test data

Responsibilities

  • Perform Assembly, Testing, Troubleshooting and Data Collection on the full range of Actuator products in the Mercury Portfolio.
  • Maintain a cohesive, functional and organized lab space while efficiently completing component level tests.
  • Assist with hardware setup on Marine applications to promote further on water testing and data collection
  • Contribute solutions to technical problems as part of the HPPD process thru design reviews and brainstorming
  • Fabricate and machine componentry as needed by various programs to aid in on time delivery of DVP execution.
  • Set up and utilize oscilloscopes, multi meters, and data acquisition systems
