About The Position

As a GE Vernova Universal Fleet Solutions Engineering Technician, you will be supporting our customers and field technicians with the most complex power generation systems. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Senior Wind Technician
  • ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the wind site.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel and travel as required 100% of time.
  • Handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
  • Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required climbing gear.
  • Ability and willingness to work in range of outdoor environments and customer facilities to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, travel to a job on short notice, rotating shift schedules as needed to complete wind turbine repairs.

  • Understand electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Multiplatform Experience – Vestas, Gamesa, Siemens, Acciona, Nordex, exc.
  • Working knowledge of rigging practices and experience with various hoisting equipment.
  • Experience using wide ranging hand and power tooling.
  • Experience with hydraulic and electrical torque tooling.
  • Associate degree in a wind energy, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or electromechanical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, work without direct supervision, and lead repair teams.
  • Proven supervisory and mentor skills while working with junior wind technicians.
  • Strong wind turbine mechanical work experience to include bolt extraction techniques, working knowledge of repairs to include high speed brake disc exchanges, high speed coupler replacement, pitch tube repairs, gearbox elastomer exchanges, generator slipring exchanges, power cable replacement, pitch and yaw drive exchanges, and yaw brake system repairs.
  • Wind turbine electrical/troubleshooting experience across multiple GE Vernova platforms and working knowledge of electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience performing borescope inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Resource Managers, Site Leadership, and Engineering to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements which includes repairs to any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE Vernova wind turbine generators across North America.
  • Help in all areas of job preparation.
  • Assist in the creation of work instructions and standard work packages.
  • Coordinate with Resource Managers on labor, tooling, and materials to execute jobs.
  • Participate in pre-job meetings to discuss execution of work instructions, schedule, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), hazard mitigation, and jobsite / customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on wind turbines including perform diagnostic analysis.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct wind turbine malfunctions.
  • Mentor, teach, and provide OJT to junior wind technicians while troubleshooting and repairing complex electromechanical problems within wind turbines generators.
  • Document all work performed using company provided technology.
