About The Position

This position will require access to ITAR and/or EAR controlled technical data, technology or source code, and requires that all individuals in this role be authorized to access such information. General Description: The Engineering Technician III reports directly to the Engineering Department Manager and provides technical support to engineers. This position requires strong knowledge of the methods and equipment utilized to produce custom mixed rubber compounds, molded rubber and composite products, or oxygen breathing hose as applicable to the assigned department. Responsibilities include supporting the development of new product and the execution of new or difficult jobs, resolving manufacturing problems and issues, and training personnel on manufacturing techniques. The position requires a hands-on innovative type individual able to produce high quality products working under general supervision. This individual must be able to communicate well with operators, engineers and managers within the Company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some knowledge of science or engineering
  • Preferably two years of technical school, two years of college toward a Bachelor of Science degree or related technical training (e.g. military/trade school)
  • 9 years related progressive experience as a technician within a manufacturing setting.
  • Special Projects related experience – The processes and equipment associated to molding, hand lay-up, and bonding of rubber and composite products
  • Mill Room related experience – The processes and equipment associated with internal mixing, open milling, calendering, and extrusion of rubber compounds
  • Hose Department related experience – The processes and equipment associated with the manufacture of communication cables and rubber oxygen breathing hose including building hose, soldering and swage of end fittings
  • Proficient in reading manufacturing drawings, the use of mechanical inspection equipment, and the application of shop math
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Set-up, execute and closeout engineering jobs to meet quality, schedule, and efficiency requirements
  • Train operators and technicians on manufacturing procedures
  • Perform corrective action, preventive action, and improvement activities
