About The Position

Engineering Technician III assists engineering personnel in technical development, evaluation, and testing of new product development of electronic motor controls. This technician sets up and performs electrical, environmental, and agency testing to support engineering and design qualification of electronic motor controls. In addition, it also supports activities to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment in the electronic lab. The position reports to: Test Engineering Supervisor

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (ASEET) or equivalent experience.
  • More than 5 years of experience working with electrical components, schematics and repair techniques.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office applications and learn other computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of technician experience in an electrical/electronic lab environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic and mechanical components used in electronic assemblies preferred.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power meter, chart recorder, etc. preferred.
  • Have soldering skills to solder surface mount and through-hole electronic components preferred.
  • Familiarity/experience to safely operate hand tools and power tools preferred.
  • Familiarity in design and development of electronics for HVAC or appliance industries preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work assignments with minimum supervision using established procedures and techniques.
  • Prepare test setups, conduct electrical, environmental, agency tests, record data and test results.
  • Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, or systems to correct functional deviations using engineering drawings, bill of materials and/or inventory management.
  • EV / DV testing for motor controls involves reliability, environmental and EMC tests.
  • Assemble prototypes and samples of electronic motor controls.
  • Ability to effectively use basic electro-mechanical hand tools.
  • Support electronic lab activities including test equipment calibration and maintain lab cleanliness.
  • Purchase electronic and mechanical components for lab inventory
  • Purchase and maintain lab equipment.
  • Support the lab audit team to ensure a safe and efficient lab environment.
  • Coordinate international and domestic shipment of items to customers and suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of written test procedure, documentation and test setup.
