Employee in this position will serve as an Engineering Technician III in the Division 8 Utility Unit located in the Carthage Division 8 Office. The position will assist with utility inspections and will be responsible for all utility field relocations once agreements are authorized and completed. Duties include coordinating utility relocation schedules, completing daily dairies, and additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Division Utility Engineer. The person hired into this position should have the ability to apply engineering concepts to solve complex problems and be able to perform computer/iPad data entry. Must be able to work in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction. Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and traverse rough terrain. Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
