At Port Hueneme, CA, SA-TECH operates and performs operational and intermediate level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCWD’s) Targets and Marine Operations Division, including air and sea vehicles and vessels used for manned and unmanned training and test events. We are currently seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Engineering Technician III for on-site at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA to provide Seaborne Target O&M Support a broad range of technical areas to include one or more of the following in a marine environment; HAZMAT, Quality Assurance, small vessel operator, mechanical, electrical, and electronics. Primary duties include (other duties may be added): Under supervision, apply technical working knowledge to perform tasks on various types of marine engine on seaborne target systems and subsystems (QST A/B/I, FACT, HSMST, and SDST Targets). If required for the position, train to and qualify in vessel operator for; HSMST, QST A/B/I, FACT and SDST Targets. Tasks typically involve assisting higher level technicians in activities such as build-up or replacing seaborne target components, marine engines, troubleshooting systems and subsystems, repairing simple machinery equipment; using tools and common test equipment; and receiving technical guidance, as required. Follow established preventative maintenance programs utilizing technical service manuals and schematic charts for marine engines and related marine equipment. Additional Duties: Operate and be qualified (technically and medically) in forklift operations, overhead crane operations, marine travel lift, and other target-specific equipment. Maintain equipment logs, maintenance action forms and work-time tracking sheets. If required for the position, qualify and maintain Portable Command and Control Unit (PCCU) Remote Control Operator (RCO) certification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus technical school or specialized training required. A total of two-four (2-4) years’ experience in performing the stated functions may replace education.
  • Basic understanding of Computer/Networking/MS Office
  • Works well with others as a member of a team.
  • Knowledgeable in testing mechanical systems and components to ensure functionality in accordance with procedures defined in technical manuals.
  • Correct and safe use of hand tools, power tools, and engine and electronic test equipment as directed.
  • With supervision have ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or rep lacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Following OSHA and Navy mandated safety guidelines with specific periods of use for safety glasses, outdoor use of respirator, hearing protection, and steel toe shoes.
  • Current CA Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a military environment (E4+) or on a military facility preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum USCG 100 Ton Credential, if operating vessels above 80 feet (desired, not required).
