About The Position

As an Electrical engineering technician at Grote Industries, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities including building test fixtures, performing failure analysis on products, and repairing and calibrating test equipment. We are seeking a candidate with strong electrical knowledge and hands-on experience using standard engineering tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Training will be provided on company processes as well as specialized testing methods including acoustical and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing. Work hours are generally 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. The role is primarily based in an engineering lab environment; however, occasional work in the assembly area may be required to support production within the same facility.

Requirements

  • Strong foundational electrical knowledge
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other standard engineering tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities as needed
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Required Education: Minimum 2-year Electrical Technician associate's degree
  • Required Experience: Two years in a related electronics job, ideally with a leadership role is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Train new employees where applicable and manage or reprioritize work to meet critical deadlines (5%)
  • Perform or delegate electrical and environmental testing, including acoustic, EMI, and temperature testing (30%)
  • Conduct failure analysis on production circuits and customer returns; create reports and lead small group discussions to identify trends and root causes, and recommend corrective actions to internal and external stakeholders (30%)
  • Perform and delegate calibration and repair of test fixtures, ensuring established time goals are met(15%)
  • Perform or delegate prototype builds of final assemblies and circuits (15%)
  • Oversee the 5S initiative in Engineering, promoting a clean and organized workspace through audits and continuous improvement ideas (5%)
