The Engineering / Automation Technician II – Days shift at Jabil Inc. is responsible for the programming, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of laser marking machines, packaging equipment, and automated manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience as an Automation / Engineering Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and experience with precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling, for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting of Coherent laser marking machines is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of FANUC robotics and robotic programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform programming, setup, and preventative maintenance (PMs) on a variety of equipment, including laser marking machines, packaging machines, and robots according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues on automated production machines, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Assist in the design, installation, and validation of new automation equipment and production equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to aid in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Collaborate with production personnel, engineers, and other technicians to optimize equipment performance and resolve production issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in automated systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participates in and understands compliance related activities pertaining to the job assignment including compliance with the Quality System Regulation (QSR), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and applicable Work Instructions.
  • Follows all laws and policies as they apply to one's job and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance always.
  • Supports and operates in a proactive safety environment
