About The Position

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two-year Associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school.
  • Requires one (1) year of experience in graphics, use of AutoCAD, GIS and other software programs.
  • Must have a current valid class 'C' driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in graphics, use of AutoCAD, GIS and other software programs.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Create engineering plans, specifications, special purpose maps, and site maps.
  • Assist in revising the City's infrastructure maps (e.g., streets, utilities, traffic signals, and drainage) using AutoCAD and GIS software.
  • Maintain computer models of the water distribution and sewer collection system.
  • Prepare surveys and inspections, collecting and correlating engineering data.
  • Prepare reports, drawings, and calculations.
  • Provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
