About The Position

The Engineering Technician I will set up new manufacturing operations and create/update documentation for manufacturing processes and testing, train on and run a variety of machines including but not limited to manual mills, lathes, grinders, bandsaws, CNC mills, and CNC lathes, and train on programming CNC machines. The Engineering Technician I will be able to read and understand part drawings with at minimum, a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
  • Must pass initial and subsequent background checks
  • Must pass preemployment and subsequent drug and alcohol screenings
  • Must comply with internal non-disclosure agreement requirements
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Maintain Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “Employee Possessor” eligibility and Federal Prohibitor status regarding firearms
  • Possess knowledge of metallurgy, mathematics, and blueprint reading
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Excel
  • Must have an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Machining Technology; be working towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent job experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate manufacturing processes with limited oversight including CNC programing and machine setup
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and requirements
  • Provide information for documentation of new manufacturing processes
  • Assist in Engineering Sustainment activities to support ongoing Manufacturing operations – to include but not limited to: restoring manufacturing processes to operation following failures, participating in process improvement efforts, providing training to others, updating process documentation
  • Participate in NPI (New Product Introduction) activities as necessary and as directed
  • Attend and contribute to discourse during team meetings and leverage senior team members for knowledge and direction
  • Conceptualize, design and manufacture part holding fixtures for low and high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Coordinate the repair, rebuild and improvement of tooling, fixturing and machinery
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement projects by collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure project deadlines are achieved
  • Maintain productivity and professionalism when working independently and/or on a team
  • Uphold Valor standards and specifications
  • Other duties as assigned
