About The Position
As an Engineering Technician I at Terracon Consultants, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of various construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. Your responsibilities will involve communicating effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors to ensure that all project requirements and testing protocols are met. You will be responsible for transporting material samples to the laboratory for further analysis, and you will need to tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in both written and digital formats for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintaining and cleaning equipment, vehicles, and work areas will also be part of your duties, along with assisting in the scheduling and dispatching of technicians to project sites. Adhering to strict safety standards is paramount in this role. In this position, you will work under the close supervision of higher-level technicians or staff professionals, assisting with tasks and performing basic testing and observation duties. You will be expected to provide clear documentation of your findings and results, communicate information to the Project Manager, and discuss the accuracy of data in preparation for submission. As you gain experience, you will be placed in progressively increased roles of training and responsibility in your work assignments. Maintaining assigned equipment and following safety rules and practices are essential, as is performing pre-task planning prior to executing work. You will also be responsible for reporting any safety issues or concerns to management and maintaining quality standards on all projects.
