About The Position

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. The Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems Virginia Class Submarine (VCS) COMBAT Lead is a demanding position requiring in-depth technical knowledge, a solid grasp of the requirements of and extensive Commercial-Off-The-Shelf electronics experience. The lead will have in-depth knowledge of the Torpedo Tube Control and Indications (K-12EH) circuit, the Virginia Payload Tube Control and Indication (K-15EH) circuit and Combat Control System (CCS) R-G cabling circuit in order to provide guidance to the team on determining any faults. The lead is an integrated member of the C3I System Weapons S/H/L Integration & Test Team (CWITT), ensuring the Weapons Launching System is fully capable of executing all required testing. The Lead must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers including SUPSHIP, CWITT, Electric Boat, and coordination with many different organizations to safely and successfully accomplish COMBAT testing on VCS. The VCS Combat/WLCIE Lead is responsible to lead the team to conduct testing, maintenance and operation of the COMBAT/WILCE systems. The lead must coordinate with CWITT and the LDY for all software and hardware updates that are performed on the system to ensure proper operation and testing in accordance with the Software Requirement Standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
