About The Position

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety, and testing protocols to assist in electric and mechanical instrumentation testing.
  • Preferred knowledge of motors and variable frequency drives.
  • Good written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Able to work on a team.
  • Former Navy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Track and maintain inventory of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain a log of laboratory training, users, and activities.
  • Ensure lab equipment is secured daily.
  • Perform informal quality and housekeeping audits of cognizant laboratory areas.
  • Assist in standardized testing that relates directly to operational performance of instrumentation.
  • Assist in performing testing for component technical manual verification and validation
  • Develop and maintain record keeping for instrumentation testing performed.
  • Set up and operate basic test equipment to evaluate performance of instrumentation, assemblies, or systems testing under simulated operating conditions.
  • Troubleshooting and documenting issues with test equipment.
