Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to provide support to our Armament Systems Division team in our Elk River, MN offices. Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns and Precision Guidance Ordinance. Our Elk River site consists of a serene 3,200 acres, with over 20 active buildings, and numerous projects supporting development, manufacturing and testing for Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems Division. Our Manufacturing Engineering team works to continuously improve, support, and maintain manufacturing activities of Medium Caliber Ammunition and Warhead production through a variety of self-directed daily tasks and larger team projects. This role supports 1st shift operations on a 4/10 schedule.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
  • 2-year degree from a trade school or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • As a responsible party to ATF, obtain coverage under Safe Explosive Act as employee possessor/responsible person upon starting.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly is highly desired.
  • High mechanical aptitude highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Load, Assemble, Pack (LAP) processes of energetics and/or munition systems in a team or individual environment.
  • Work performed in either a non-typical low volume development environment with medium to high complexity components or a medium volume production environment.
  • Work with Engineers to help develop mechanical designs during early-stage development programs and work to continuously improve legacy programs.
  • Follow Detailed Operating Procedures and collect/record data as necessary.
  • Ability to learn and operate many different types of equipment.
  • Perform in-process quality checks with various hand tools and gauges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineers, Production Control, Quality and Test Personnel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a safety-first mentality with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task.
