About The Position

Who will you be working with? Our Systems Engineering team is the backbone of locomotive design. Our work involves looking at the big picture, understanding how different systems work together and making sure each component performs at its best. We are involved in the entire product lifecycle, playing a key role from initial concept definition through design, production, and ongoing reliability. Our team provides critical input at every stage, ensuring that engineering decisions align with customer requirements, technical feasibility, and long-term performance goals. We collaborate closely across engineering disciplines, translating technical requirements into practical designs that meet our customers' real-world needs. How will you make a difference? The Engineering Technical Leader - Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing locomotives, performing design and analysis activities, planning and executing validation tests, coordinating cross-functional design efforts, and managing trade-offs and interfaces between subsystems. What do we want to know about you? Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronic, Mechanical Minimum of 7 years design experience Ability to understand software architecture, electrical networks as well as basic mechanical systems Demonstrated ability to write requirements documentation and specifications in an engineering environment What will your typical day look like? Provide technical leadership and overall systems coordination for assigned programs and projects. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the product, including system-level architecture and subsystem interactions. Collaborate with subsystem teams to ensure seamless integration of all designs into the overall system. Lead and participate in design reviews, offering guidance and input as the systems integrator. Evaluate trade-offs and facilitate consensus within the program team to resolve technical challenges. Partner with marketing, proposal leaders, and commercial teams to ensure all customer, internal, and regulatory requirements are captured and communicated to design teams. Create and maintain essential systems documentation, including requirements, configuration, and test plans. Oversee validation testing on initial production units to confirm compliance with documented requirements. Support the proposal process, ensuring technically sound and feasible solutions are presented to customers. You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. Additional Information Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $77400-110300. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. Requirements
