About The Position

The position of Senior Chemical Engineering Technician at the Letterkenny Army Depot involves overseeing and managing chemical engineering functions within an industrial operation. The role focuses on reducing environmental and worker risks associated with major weapons systems throughout their life cycle. The technician will apply their expertise in chemistry and safety regulations to enhance product quality and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, managing industrial chemical risks.
• Knowledge of chemistry, engineering, materials science, and risk reduction principles.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and OSHA regulations for hazardous materials.
• Successful completion of OSHA's 10-hour or 30-hour Training for General Industry, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in translating chemical safety data sheet (SDS) information into shop instructions.
• Knowledge of proper storage and handling for hazardous materials.
• Experience in industrial hygiene practices and principles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior Chemical Engineering Technician for an industrial operation.
• Perform engineering technician functions during all phases of the life cycle of major weapons systems.
• Apply knowledge of chemistry and safety regulations to reduce risks during production and sustainment operations.
• Coordinate the Hazardous Materials Approval Group and represent the Environmental Quality Coordination Committee.
• Collaborate with environmental management, safety, fire prevention, and industrial hygiene teams to improve risk posture.
• Develop and manage projects aimed at achieving risk reduction targets.
