About The Position

The Engineering Tech position at Ruger involves working under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer to design systems and manufacturing solutions for firearms. The role includes improving the manufacturability of products, assisting with the introduction of new product lines, designing tools and fixtures, and specifying necessary tools and equipment for manufacturing operations. The Engineering Tech will also analyze and plan work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Collaboration with product and design engineers is essential to evaluate product designs and their financial feasibility. The position requires participation in meetings with various stakeholders to stay updated on issues and compliance with governmental regulations. Additionally, the role includes maintaining professional knowledge through workshops and publications, adhering to safety procedures, and performing other duties as assigned by plant management.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to pass background and drug screening.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and understand ladder and relay logic.
  • Knowledge of engineering software like SolidWorks or PLC programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Attention to complex design and detail-oriented.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design systems and manufacturing solutions for firearms under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Improve manufacturability of products and assist with new product line introductions.
  • Design tools and fixtures for the production process.
  • Specify tools and equipment needed for manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze and plan work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Evaluate new processes, equipment suppliers, and technology for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product and design engineers to assess manufacturability and financial feasibility of designs.
  • Attend update meetings with Manufacturing Engineer, line managers, and operators.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineer in project management for manufacturing projects.
  • Coordinate with EHS manager and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in mandated training as per OSHA standards.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
