About The Position

The position involves working on BQM-177A Aerial targets and various types of electronic equipment, ordnance and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: removing, installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, equipment testing and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. Candidates will apply general knowledge and judgement to solve problems in determining work sequence and selecting tools and testing equipment. The candidate will receive technical guidance as required, from supervisors or higher-level technicians, and work will be reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments. This position is for basic level technicians with opportunities to progress to higher levels.

Requirements

  • Proper tools and their uses (e.g., volt meters, power tools, simple hand tools).
  • Install electronic components following predetermined methods and criteria.
  • Adjust, repair and modify systems using Naval and industry publications.
  • Remove and/or replace malfunctioning units as directed.
  • Setup and operate standard electronic testing equipment.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing stated functions.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% of the year, from one to six weeks at a time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport and DOD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Possess valid state driver’s license; Commercial Driver License is a plus.
  • Pass random drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical maintenance experience of any kind preferred.
  • Trade school training a plus.
  • Professional certifications/licenses a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Launch/recovery and decontamination of the BQM-177A.
  • Maintenance on aerial target mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in functions beyond normal operations.
