Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Design Engineer IV is responsible for supporting new product development and providing design engineering support to the sales and business development team.
Support all aspects of new product design and improvement, including concept proposal and product definitionthrough engineering drawings and specifications.
Lead the design process collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Sales departments.
Utilizeexperience as a product expert to develop new product solutions asa partof company growth initiatives.
Serve as project manager throughoutdesignprocess and as product expert thereafterincludingthe development of comprehensive product introduction timelines from concept to serial productionusingthe company Advanced Quality Planning(AQP)methodology.
Evaluate product effectiveness on and off site. Providedirectionand/or lead corrective actions.
Research new suppliers and technology needed to support product development.
Direct testing and prototype phase activities.
Support development and maintenance ofbillof materials.
Assist with First Article Inspections (FAI) on in-house designs and customer-supplied drawings and samples.
Successful ability to perform all duties described inDesign Engineer I-IIIbut with more independence and authority:
Work on projects with varying levels of complexity, including the most complex design projects.
Use advanced drafting techniques andgainedknowledge to create advanced engineering drawings.
Work from rough sketches, schematics, and verbal instructions to design products.
Use technical knowledge, skills, and experience to act as mentor and provide training for less experienced design engineers.
Participate in internal design review meetings and provide feedback.
Identifycost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
Work independently and as a key member of a team.
Lead project management for all aspects of product design.
Lead the design of new products, improvement of existingproductsand reconfiguration of existing products for new applications while working closely with various company departments.
Provide product definition through engineering drawings and specifications.
Research and evaluate products and parts for cost, efficiency, and reliability.
Support the development and maintenance of engineering drawings and Bill of Materials.
Completeaccuratework and meet deadlines.
Assistin troubleshooting, root-cause problem solving, and continuousimprovementsupport to the Manufacturing and Operations teams.
Interact with customers to solve problems, propose solutions, and plan projects. Some travel may berequiredwithin the U.S. and Canada.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Bachelor’sdegree in an Engineering program is strongly desired.
Minimum of eightyears of engineering experience;additionalproject management experience is preferred.
Proficient with SolidWorks or similar parametric modeling software.
Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; knowledge of IFS is preferred.
Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, test reports, and drawings.
Capacity towritetechnical reports, service procedures, installation instructions, and other types of technical product documentation.
Familiarity with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane geometry, solid geometry, and trigonometry, and an ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Capacity to build andmaintainstrong customer relationships.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
