About The Position

CNS is seeking an Engineering Support Technician to conduct complex paraprofessional engineering division activities including but not limited to design preparation, records maintenance, and other technical support.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret and communicate engineering plans and specifications.
  • Good understanding of engineering design and drafting, and the terms and methods used in engineering procedures.
  • Ability to use algebraic formulas, statistical mathematics, and trigonometry tables to accomplish assigned jobs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • This position must be able to pass a Federal Background Check and have or be able to obtain a US security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Managing small to medium-scale, moderately complex construction projects during the construction phase, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Developing and managing the progress of project schedules, coordinating scheduling of multiple disciplines, and driving completion of all tasks on time and without conflicts
  • Identifying, assessing, and resolving issues during onsite construction and making recommendations based on priority and need to ensure the success of project objectives
  • Coordinating with engineering staff and/or engineer of record; assisting in reviews of project constructability, value engineering, safety by design, and commissioning and start-up plans; and attending meetings to support reviews
  • Monitoring the safety and health performance of contractors and addressing deficiencies during the project as they arise while holding everyone accountable for high safety performance.
  • Performing/monitoring the red-line process monthly with the contractor as part of the review of contractor applications for payment and ensuring that all Requests for Information (RFI) and Change Orders are incorporated
  • Overseeing and managing contractors, ensuring that their work is completed to the required standards and in accordance with the contracted construction scope
  • Providing oversight of commissioning work and contractor's quality control during commissioning and start-up
