About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Assembly and Electronics Technician to join our hardware team dedicated to next-generation wireless power beaming technology. This critical role involves hands-on, high-quality, and rapid assembly of complex hardware, including the integration of sensitive electronic systems, precision optical components, and overall mechanical structures. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in both electronics assembly (PCB) and precision mechanical systems and demonstrates exceptional efficiency and a commitment to meticulous work standards across all tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in electronics and/or mechanical assembly in a high-reliability, R&D, aerospace, or advanced technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex, detailed assembly and integration tasks with a high degree of meticulousness while consistently meeting aggressive build schedules and output targets.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, PCB layout drawings, and component data sheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform precise SMT component soldering and rework under a microscope.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings (e.g., blueprints, CAD models).
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and adhering to strict tolerance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to clearly document procedures and interact constructively with engineering and quality teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with optical component handling and alignment (lenses, mirrors, fiber optics).
  • Familiarity with high-power laser systems, electrical systems and thermal management hardware.
  • Working knowledge of basic programming/scripting for hardware testing and interfacing.

Responsibilities

  • Electronics Assembly & Rework: Perform fine-pitch soldering, component placement, and rework on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), handling both through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT) components.
  • System Integration: Execute the complete integration of electronic, optical, and mechanical sub-systems into final hardware units according to engineering schematics, bills of materials, and detailed work Instructions.
  • Mechanical Assembly: Perform precision mechanical assembly of optical systems, thermal management systems, and enclosures, ensuring alignment, torque specifications, and cleanliness standards are strictly met.
  • Cable and Harness Fabrication: Build custom wiring harnesses, cables, and looms, ensuring correct pin-outs, strain relief, and termination.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Assist engineers with hardware bring-up, validation testing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing faults down to the component level using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Documentation and Process Ownership: Actively generate and maintain high-quality documentation, including drafting new work instructions, assembly procedures, and contributing to bill of materials accuracy. Identify process improvements and edit existing documentation based on lessons learned during assembly to improve yield, speed, and efficiency for future builds. Adhere strictly to quality control (QC) and safety protocols.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with design engineers (electrical, mechanical, optical) to understand design intent, provide valuable feedback from a manufacturing perspective, and solve integration challenges.
  • DFM Input: Act as the voice of assembly and manufacturing by providing timely, constructive feedback to the engineering teams on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to ensure the final hardware design is optimized for efficient, high-quality production.
  • Problem Solving: Participate actively in root-cause analysis of build failures or non-conformities, working alongside engineering to implement robust, sustainable corrective actions.
