About The Position

The Engineering Support Specialist is responsible for completing and supporting a variety of tasks within design and maintenance engineering. The position is intended to provide non-design functions and support activities within a full-service engineering organization. These department functions include but are not limited to safety, staffing, recruiting/on-boarding, training/development, performance monitoring, research/technical writing, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience (e.g., computer systems, electrical, industrial experience) required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Proficiency in use of computers is required.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite (e.g., Excel) software products.
  • Must have good analytical skills.
  • Must also have the capability to work on major project teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects and priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree preferably in a technical area (e.g., electrical/computer or industrial technology) from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic project lifecycle processes is preferred.
  • Electric utility experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Department safety program activities, including safety meetings and safety training.
  • Department goals, objectives, plans, and performance metrics.
  • Department training plan, including new employee orientation, initial training, coordinating attendance at periodic required training, and continuous technical and developmental training activities.
  • Department engineering assurance plan and corrective action tracking.
  • Department policies, processes, procedures, and instructions.
  • Software, upgrades, licensing, computer, and equipment maintenance needs.
  • Department O&M budget, data requests, audit support, and other administrative duties.
  • Ordering and expediting materials for engineers.
  • Preparing contracts for vendors who supply engineering services.
  • Other support activities as directed by supervision.
