About The Position
The Engineering Support Specialist (NPG) B position at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a critical role within the Design & Computer Engineering department located in Chattanooga, TN. This position serves as a technical specialist responsible for a variety of engineering support functions that cover major programs and processes. Key responsibilities include managing engineering drawings, vendor manuals, design guidelines, and corrective action plans. The specialist will also be involved in design change packages, scheduling, performance monitoring, and configuration management. This role requires a keen ability to analyze technical documentation, identify inconsistencies, and ensure that engineering outputs meet standardized requirements. In this position, the Engineering Support Specialist will conduct in-depth analyses of existing objectives, procedures, and resources to identify potential problem areas. Following these analyses, the specialist will develop corrective action measures and strategies for long-term programmatic success. The role also involves the development and implementation of both programmatic and technical programs, as well as establishing standards for engineering records and requirements for contract partner inputs into the engineering process. The specialist will be expected to maintain adherence to applicable programmatic procedures and may coordinate or review the work of others. The position operates with a degree of independence, performing most assignments with general instructions regarding expected results. Technical guidance will be provided for unusual or complex problems, and the specialist will require manager approval for proposed project plans. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves interfacing with higher levels of management and building relationships across various departments to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
