About The Position

The Materials Science Division of Applied Research Lab (ARL) is looking for several highly motivated undergraduate students to assist with various activities in the Materials Science Division. This position would be for an Engineering Support Specialist Intern. Typical duties for a broad range of programs involving gear train technology, additive manufacturing, powder processing, cold spray manufacturing, robotics, testing, modeling and simulation, and characterization include assisting with material synthesis, device fabrication, process simulation for fabrication, and development of advanced materials and material systems. Students Majoring in Engineering, Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology programs, Materials Science and Engineering (MATSE), Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Aerospace engineering, and Nuclear Engineering are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at ARL’s Innovation Park location; relocation and housing are not provided.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Engineering, Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Aerospace Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
