About The Position

LUZCO is seeking an Engineering Supervisor – Transmission & Distribution Line Design to lead a high-performing design team and drive technical excellence across utility infrastructure projects. This role blends hands-on overhead line design with people leadership, process improvement, and client collaboration. This is a great fit for someone with strong overhead transmission and/or distribution line design experience and a collaborative, growth-minded leadership style. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years designing overhead transmission and/or distribution lines
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Civil or Structural preferred)
  • Strong PLS-CADD experience; bonus if familiar with PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers
  • Skilled in problem-solving, client communication, and working with utility teams
  • Proficient in Excel and engineering documentation
  • Valid driver’s license; comfortable with field work and travel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transmission, distribution, substation, or power delivery projects
  • Skilled in 3D modeling and advanced CAD techniques
  • Familiar with project scheduling/resource tools (MS Project, Primavera)
  • Knowledge of electrical & construction safety practices, including outage planning
  • Experience in outage-driven, utility, or industrial construction environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Transmission or Distribution engineers
  • Perform and review overhead line designs (transmission and/or distribution) using PLS-CADD, and other related tools
  • Guide junior engineers and support technical problem solving
  • Collaborate with utility clients on line upgrades and design projects
  • Contribute technical input to proposals and new project pursuits
  • Improve design processes and engineering workflows
  • Conduct field visits and site assessments as needed (up to 15% travel)
  • Verify clearances, structure integrity, and NESC/client standards compliance
  • Prepare construction and record documentation
  • Operate with strong technical ownership and leadership presence
