About The Position

In this role the selected candidate will be responsible for supervising a group of approximately 12-15 Information Technology System Engineers tasked to provide multi-layered support for Design and Engineering Applications and Legacy applications which the individual will directly supervise in the day to day operations of the group. The System Engineer Supervisor is responsible to interface with Design, Engineering, Finance, Groton and Quonset Point shipyards plus Planning to prioritize software changes, testing and implementation for routine and emergent production issues. The System Engineer Supervisor will often provide both technical and non-technical guidance on large IT projects and key initiatives. Continually demonstrates experience communicating software issues with software development organizations (EB and vendors) to assist in troubleshooting activities. This position requires frequent interaction with all levels of management; demonstrating a very strong verbal and written communication skills. Responsible for all HR actions for group including labor accounting and approval of time, assigns projects and tasks to group as necessary to accomplish mission of company and department. Routinely provides briefings and documentation to executives on matters relating to IT Projects and corrective actions. This position is located in the Information Technology Department and requires limited exposure to external elements during the performance of duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics
  • 4+ years of related IT experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading and mentoring peers and/or junior personnel

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology
  • 4 + years of Application software support experience
  • 4 + years of demonstrated management and leadership peers and/or junior personnel
  • 2 + years of demonstrated experience in supervising personnel.
  • Project management experience
