About The Position

The position is designed for students to assist engineering faculty and staff with the maintenance and administration of lab spaces and courses at Sweet Briar College. The role is part-time, allowing students to create their own schedules while accommodating academic deadlines. Lab assistants will provide supplemental oversight to students enrolled in laboratory classes, ensuring a productive and organized lab environment.

Requirements

• Engineering major or minor
• Familiarity with lab equipment and supplies
• Completion of the lab course for which they are applying
• Ability to attend the lab course for which they are applying

• Possess diligence and initiative
• An 'A' in the course for which they are applying and an overall 'B' GPA in engineering/science courses

Responsibilities

• Clean and reorganize labs and supplies throughout the year
• Maintain inventory of lab equipment and supplies and request reorders/servicing as needed
• Assist in the care and repair of lab equipment
• Create student use guides for new equipment
• Assist faculty and staff with preparation and cleanup of labs
• Answer student questions and assist with the execution of the lab
• Administer pre-lab quizzes as deemed necessary by faculty
