As an Engineering Specialist in Quality at Ford Motor Company, you will play a crucial role in leading Quality Operating System (QOS) initiatives within the production department. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with production team leaders and Process Coaches to address quality issues, serving as the main point of contact with other departments such as Machining, Quality, and Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L). You will coordinate containment actions during quality concerns, ensuring that any potential impact on customers is minimized. This includes maintaining traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference and managing quality documentation related to First Time Through (FTT), 8D reports, scrap, dock holds, and dock audits. In addition to these responsibilities, you will participate in quality and contamination audits, prepare standard reports for quality reviews within the plant and with other areas, and review rejected parts for quality integrity to determine the next steps. You will lead cross-functional team initiatives aimed at achieving zero defects and will be responsible for the 8D resolution of warranty and Voice of the Customer (VOC) concerns, collaborating closely with Quality, MP&L, Machining, and VOC teams. Your role will also involve coordinating Green and Black Belt projects within the department and working with various quality systems such as Quality Logistics Supply Chain Management (QLSCM), Quality Works, and others. You will apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to continuously improve manufacturing processes and products, implementing both interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues. This includes managing statistical process control activities, executing measurement systems analysis, and establishing quality target levels for each build. You will provide input for design and assembly concepts to minimize variations and establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods. Additionally, you will support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams, review internal and external suppliers for process compatibility, and complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation to support new model launches.
