About The Position

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Engineering Specialist IV/V or Engineer I/II/III/IV - Production located at Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland, Nebraska. This engineering position(s) is managed under the Non-Nuclear Engineering Career Path. Assignments are designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills. The incumbent has responsibilities including daily support for Operations and Maintenance, trending system performance, troubleshooting off-normal system conditions, failure and root cause analysis, evaluating proposed configuration changes, and coordinating maintenance-related projects.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent background in an Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronics discipline or related field with 3-5 years of experience in the utility industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university or Professional Engineering License and Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a Non-ABET accredited school for Engineer Level I.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college or Professional Engineering License obtained by accredited examination for Engineer Level II.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college or Professional Engineering License obtained by accredited examination for Engineer Level III.
  • Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college or Professional Engineering License obtained by an accredited examination for Engineer Level IV.

Responsibilities

  • Daily support for Operations and Maintenance.
  • Trending system performance and initiating actions to restore/improve system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting off-normal system conditions.
  • Conducting failure and root cause analysis.
  • Evaluating proposed configuration changes.
  • Making recommendations to maintain asset value.
  • Coordinating maintenance-related projects.
  • Managing and implementing capital projects.
