About The Position

We are seeking an Engineering Specialist II to design, build, deploy, and support automated End-of-Line (EOL) production test systems. This role blends Python software development, Linux-based systems, production databases, and hands-on hardware integration to deliver reliable, operator-friendly test solutions in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing production-grade code, integrating physical I/O hardware, and supporting live manufacturing systems under real-world production pressures.

Requirements

  • Production Python development for automation or test systems
  • Database design and SQL experience (schema design, performance, backups/retention)
  • Experience maintaining or building internal production web applications
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical hardware and industrial I/O (valves, solenoids, sensors, actuators, etc.)
  • Proven experience developing automated EOL test systems in manufacturing
  • Strong Linux working knowledge (services, logs, processes, permissions)
  • Proficiency with Git source control and release discipline
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in live production environments
  • Clear documentation skills for manufacturing and quality stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial communications: RS-232/485, TCP/IP, Modbus, CAN, OPC UA
  • Docker and deployment tooling experience
  • Manufacturing and quality metrics/tools: FPY, yield, Pareto, SPC, 5-Why, 8D
  • Fixture design experience or close collaboration with mechanical/controls engineers
  • Automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest), logging/telemetry, and monitoring dashboards

Responsibilities

  • Automated End-of-Line (EOL) Test System Development Design, implement, and maintain automated EOL test stations to validate product functionality, performance, and safety
  • Integrate instrumentation and test hardware (DAQ, sensors, pressure/flow, power supplies, relays, etc.)
  • Develop diagnostics, calibration routines, and preventative maintenance checks to maximize uptime
  • Develop maintainable Python applications for: Test orchestration and sequencing Hardware control and device communication Data logging, serialization, and reporting Automated result classification and analytics integration
  • Apply production software practices: modular architecture, structured logging, configuration management, and testing
  • Design and maintain databases for: Serial number traceability and product genealogy Test results, limits, versions, and station configuration Failure modes, repair loops, and yield metrics
  • Support reporting for manufacturing and quality (yield, FPY, Pareto, trends)
  • Implement data quality controls (validation, retention, backups, auditability)
  • Own and enhance a custom production web application used on the manufacturing floor: Operator UI for running tests and tracking units Station dashboards and status visibility Reporting views for manufacturing and quality
