About The Position

The Engineering Services Technician is responsible for setup, installation, troubleshooting, testing and repair of complex electrical and electronic equipment including automatic machines and process controls, motor control centers and related controls, computer control systems, some with human/machine interfaces, as well as basic plant electrical and mechanical equipment; participates in preventive/predictive maintenance activities related to all plant and production components and systems; responsible for maintaining the plant calibration system to ISO standards

Requirements

  • Capable of performing low-to-high voltage electrical work, balancing loads, laying out and wiring complex circuits with large numbers of connections, troubleshooting and correcting faulty logic and control circuits, as well as carrying out electrical installations, repairs and tests on virtually all production and plant equipment
  • Capable of analyzing and effecting repairs on a variety of complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems and components
  • Proficient in use of basic hand tools, volt/ohm/amp meters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic equipment as necessary
  • Familiar with company philosophy, procedures, and practices
  • Familiar with Shurtape's manufacturing environment and equipment
  • Possesses good electrical/electronic aptitude
  • Possesses good mechanical aptitude
  • Participates in Shurtape's pay-for-skill program
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and is able to function effectively with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Military training, graduation from a recognized junior college, or other secondary education, training or experience in industrial technology, or an acceptable equivalent of applicable education and/or experience, is mandatory
  • Must have normal color vision
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Previous maintenance experience in an industrial environment desired

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and accurately reports personal activities on a daily, or more frequent, basis
  • Assists the Engineering Manager in determining proper installation and/or repair procedures for electrical and electronic equipment as well as mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Notifies the Engineering Manager if additional hand, power, or electronic diagnostic tools are required
  • Participates in establishing and maintaining effective preventive maintenance programs
  • Assures that safe work practices and company policies are adhered to at all times
  • Assists Engineering Manager in establishing and maintaining optimum inventory levels of critical components
  • Assists Engineering Department in planning existing equipment upgrades, and establishing specifications for new equipment
  • Assists Engineering Department in archiving accurate equipment blueprints and operational documents
  • Assists Engineering Department in archiving accurate equipment operating, testing and development software
  • Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Engineering Manager
